For as long as I can remember, I had an old, large zipped bag under my bed for storing purses. Recently, I realized it was time for a change.

This bag was filled with purses from ages past, random straps, and even an odd sock. It took up precious space and was ripped, failing to safeguard my bags.

I decided to eliminate the unnecessary clutter and upgrade to a more suitable storage option. I went for a plastic lidded bin, ensuring my cherished purses had a proper home. This new solution encouraged me to declutter, and honestly, I'm glad I did.

Reasons for Upgrading My Underbed Purse Storage

My previous storage method was an old bag with a broken zipper and a big tear, so I switched to a Sterilite Plastic Storage Bin from Wayfair. I'd used these bins for shoes and seasonal clothing, and found them sturdy and reliable.

As I replaced my old bag, I wanted a storage option that not only organized my purses but also protected them. Lidded plastic bins were the perfect choice, and I was fortunate to have one lying around.

Like me, Punteha van Terheyden emphasizes the impact of clear organizing bins in the home. She states they have 'transformed' her storage solutions.

According to her, 'In a busy household, keeping things organized can be tough, and traditional underbed storage can lead to misplaced items.

'While they work well for clothing when labeled, I suggest plastic bins for purse storage. They help you keep track of your collection and find what you need quickly without rummaging under your bed in a hurry. They also protect purses from indoor pests.

The first step for me was decluttering, so I pulled my massive bag out from under the bed and emptied everything onto the floor. I tend to think visually, which is why the chaos decluttering method works wonders for me.

I assessed each item individually and used the pile decluttering method to sort my collection into keep and donate, sending a few to my younger sister as well.

Since my chosen plastic bin was smaller and sturdier than my previous bag, I knew I had to downsize my collection. This motivated me to declutter effectively.

Before long, I had a sizable donation pile, far more than I anticipated when I aimed to just part with one bag, in line with the 'one-in, one-out' principle after buying a new purse during my recent travels.

A walk-in closet with lit-up shelves filled with shoes, purses and clothes

In a perfect world, I'd have a walk-in closet like this. For now, it's a dream...

Next, I organized my purses into the plastic bin, folding tote bags and backpacks neatly, laying the rest flat, and securing the lid to keep them protected from dust and moths.

Now, when I search for a specific purse, they're neatly arranged and easily visible, thanks to the clear sides of the bin. Honestly, my only regret is not doing this sooner!
