Investor insights for 2026 reveal strategies to tackle market challenges effectively.

The stock market wrapped up 2025 with impressive gains, buoyed by strong earnings and advancements in AI. Yet, an underlying concern persists: Are we witnessing a bubble? More importantly, what proactive steps should we take with our investments now?

From Google's unexpected resilience to mixed signals in AI, our expert discusses strategies for investing wisely in 2026.

Stay Invested, Even When the Market is Volatile

Interviewer: You noted that Google was your top performer in 2025, despite concerns about AI impacting search, the rocky launch of Gemini, and antitrust challenges. What changed for Google, and when did you sense a shift?

Expert: The shift became evident in spring. I've held Google stock for years, and its AI rollout had been disappointing. Initially called Bard and later Gemini, the execution was lacking. I was quite surprised.

Amid fears of AI's impact on search, Google reported a decent quarter, leading to renewed optimism. They improved their AI strategy, releasing Gemini, New Gemini, and Nano Bananas, which positively impacted search. Their performance has been impressive.

Learn from Your Losses

Interviewer: You mentioned the emotional toll of Liberation Day but chose to maintain your positions. What insights did you gain from that experience that guide your investment approach during tough times?

Expert: It was indeed challenging. I often reference the volatility index, which gauges market movement. When it surged from the high teens to the fifties post-Liberation Day, I experienced significant losses. However, I refused to sell my stocks. A volatility index in the fifties indicates extreme fear.

This principle guides my strategy. I consider whether I'd invest at current prices if I owned nothing, gaining perspective with experience. Market conditions will not remain static, which is a crucial lesson.
