As spring arrives, many homeowners are realizing how dirty their windows have become during winter.

With the first warm weekend, I decided to try a new window cleaning hack that proved to be fast and effective. I used The Pink Stuff, which inspired the name 'Pink & Blink'.

Best of all, it only requires four simple steps and took me under an hour to make all my windows shine.

The 'Pink & Blink' Window Cleaning Method

This technique is ideal for refreshing windows and keeping them cleaner for a longer duration, saving time and effort later on.

Here's how to get those sparkling results at home.

1. Apply The Pink Stuff to the Windows

There are countless window cleaning methods online, ranging from baking soda to dish soap.

My go-to is definitely using The Pink Stuff. This powerful paste has done wonders for my glass shower doors and removing tough stains, so I had to try it on my windows.

I applied the paste using a soft sponge like these from Walmart, making small circles from top to bottom. The paste's mild abrasiveness effectively scrubs away dirt without harming the glass.

Additionally, it contains sodium silicate, which breaks down grease and helps prevent hard water stains by eliminating calcium and magnesium deposits. It's also fantastic for cleaning stainless steel sinks.

2. Rinse the Windows with Cold Water

After covering the window pane, I rinsed off the paste using cold water. A watering can worked well, but a low-pressure hose could also do the trick.

For any stubborn areas, I used a damp microfiber cloth to wipe away the residue. I recommend these microfiber cloths from Walmart for a streak-free finish.

3. Eliminate Excess Water

Using a karcher for window cleaning

While many prefer using a classic squeegee for drying windows, I opted for a window vac to remove excess water and avoid streaks. After trying my mom's, I had to get my own.

A Karcher window vac from Amazon is faster than a squeegee, sucking up water before it dries and creates streaks. It also minimizes mess.

If you're looking for a budget option, I recommend this Professional Window Cleaning Squeegee and Microfiber Scrubber from Walmart.

I then buffed any small water lines with a clean, dry microfiber cloth for a flawless finish.

4. Clean Window Seals with an Old Dish Sponge

Cleaning windows goes beyond just the glass. Tracks can accumulate dirt and even mold over time. I use an old dish sponge to reach these hard-to-access areas, a tip I picked up on TikTok.

These dish sponges from Walmart work perfectly for this task.

I cut two horizontal slits into the top of the sponge using a craft knife, allowing it to fit nicely into the tracks to wipe out dust and dirt effortlessly when combined with some multi-purpose spray.

Cleaning Tips

Can dish soap be used for windows?

Dish soap mixed with warm water is effective for window cleaning and can be enhanced with distilled white vinegar for added cleaning power. Just remember to rinse afterward to avoid greasy residue or streaks.

What's the fastest way to clean windows?

The quickest method involves using a 1:1 mix of water and vinegar to dissolve tough grime. Spray the solution generously, let it sit for five minutes, then wipe with a microfiber cloth in a 'Z' motion before rinsing and squeegeeing off the excess water.

Cleaning windows might seem daunting, but with effective products like The Pink Stuff and a window vac, it becomes a breeze to achieve streak-free shine.
