Countertop ovens are a game-changer in convenience. I used to rely on takeout because I dreaded heating the large oven, especially during Birmingham's hot months.
Yet, the Wolf Gourmet Elite Countertop Oven stands out as the pinnacle of countertop cooking. After using it for over two years, despite trying numerous models, it remains my top pick and is a permanent fixture on my countertop.
After extensive use, the Wolf Gourmet Elite Countertop Oven still looks pristine and performs flawlessly. Its straightforward interface eliminates confusion. While the investment is notable, it reflects the high quality and functionality expected from this brand.
Wolf Gourmet Countertop Oven | was $949.00, now $749.95 at Wolf Gourmet
While it bears a hefty price tag, a $200 discount makes it more appealing, especially for a model praised by experts as a standard for toaster ovens. This is the best price available.

First Impressions
Since acquiring the Wolf Gourmet Elite Countertop Oven in February 2020, I've been impressed by its aesthetics and functionality. It was well-packaged upon arrival.

Inside, the crumb tray slides out easily, while the removable rack sits above it. Two additional racks can be inserted onto the main rack, and a temperature probe jack is conveniently located on the upper right side.
The package includes a baking pan, broil rack, temperature probe, user manual, and recipe book.

The control panel displays temperature, timer settings, and probe temperature. When toasting, it shows the number of slices and desired browning level.
A convection icon illuminates next to the temperature gauge, indicating when convection is activated, which enhances browning while retaining moisture. The probe button activates when the thermometer is inserted.

The knobs are a highlight for me, especially the vibrant red option, available also in black and brushed silver. The top knob selects cooking modes, while the bottom knob adjusts temperature and toast settings.
Below the knobs, a light button allows you to turn the oven light on or off.
Broiling Chicken Thighs

My first test involved broiling chicken thighs (from a local market). I prefer broiling for its speed and the lack of preheating required.

In broil mode, I set it to high, the default setting, and started with a maximum 20-minute timer. The cooking time can be adjusted as needed during the cycle. The thighs turned out juicy and tender, exceeding my expectations.

Baking Cookies
I opted for the baking function to prepare chocolate chip cookies. While I only made six for this test, the oven's capacity allows for larger batches and various dish sizes, fitting even large muffin tins and pie plates.

To bake, I selected the bake function, set the timer for 13 minutes, and pressed start. The cookies emerged gooey inside and crispy outside, though I could have pulled them out a minute or two earlier. These ovens often reduce cooking time due to their hot air circulation.

Roasting Pork Chops
Next, I tested roasting pork chops at the default 350-degree setting. The oven display shows the roast mode, temperature, and timer countdown.

After the timer finished, I switched to convection mode for optimal browning. The result was perfectly cooked, golden-brown pork chops.

Cleaning the Wolf Gourmet Countertop Oven
Maintaining this countertop oven is straightforward. I clean the control panel with a damp sponge and the exterior with a microfiber cloth. For the interior, I use soapy water on the racks and knobs, while the crumb tray, baking pan, and broil racks are dishwasher safe.
How It Stacks Up

The Wolf Gourmet Elite Countertop Oven remains my top choice among countertop appliances. It may lack some advanced features found in competitors, but it excels in quality and performance.
Compared to smart ovens like June or Brava, which offer touchscreen interfaces and food recognition, the Wolf focuses on durability and traditional functionality.
While those alternatives can be costly, there are also simpler models that provide added cooking features at lower prices. Yet, the Wolf's unmatched quality truly sets it apart.
Should You Invest in the Wolf Gourmet Countertop Oven?
If you're after a budget-friendly countertop oven, you might need to explore other options. However, if you want the best in quality and reliability that won't fail after a few months – this is the one to choose.
