It's that time of year again—time to pack away the heavy winter blankets and give our bedrooms a fresh, seasonal update. One of my favorite ways to do that is by swapping in some of the latest bedding trends.
Bedroom trends always shape how we dress our beds, so I've done some digging and talked to designers to find out which bedding styles they're most excited about for 2025.
As someone who keeps a close eye on style and trends, it's my job to know what's coming next. From vintage-inspired prints to TikTok-famous aesthetics, these five shoppable looks will inspire you and point you toward the best places to buy bedding that's both trendy and expert-approved. Here's what your bed should be wearing this year.
The Top 5 Bedding Trends for 2025
We all know how to make a bed in theory—it's not rocket science. But there's an art to it. If you want to know the interior design trends that experts are using to create a stylish, inviting, and sleep-friendly bedroom this year, here are the key looks to know.
1. The Fisherman Aesthetic
You've probably heard of the Fisherman Aesthetic—the fun new spin on coastal decor that's taken over fashion, interiors, and social media. Making waves in 2025, this trend draws inspiration from maritime life, focusing on natural materials, earthy tones, and nautical motifs to create a cozy, lived-in feel like a seaside retreat.
Rhiannon Masters, interior designer and head of brand at Piglet in Bed, says: 'When we think of the Fisherman Aesthetic, we think of the sea, the beach, and even fisherman attire! This helps us find inspiration for textures and fabrics we can use to effortlessly bring the aesthetic into our interiors.'
'Stripes are the epitome of this trend, but also think chunky cable-knit wools, breathable linens, and floaty chiffon—easily added through your soft furnishing choices for the finishing touches,' she suggests. 'Linen is the ideal fabric for bedding thanks to its breathable and comfortable qualities, while cable knit works great for cushions and blankets to add texture and depth to the room.'
'From navy blues and foamy whites to sea greens and bold reds, you can use as many or as few nautical colors in your palette to create your ideal space.'

2. Scallops, Waves, and Frills
If you're after a more romantic bedroom look, the ruffled and scalloped decor trend might be more your speed.
Taking a softer, more vintage-inspired turn, scalloped, wavy, and frill-trimmed bed linens and shams offer a fresh, whimsical alternative to minimalist styles. They create a more inviting, beautifully layered bed.
'It's all about turning up the charm with a playful twist,' says Jo Plant, head of design at Pooky. 'Think vintage-inspired details with a side of contemporary cool. We love the idea of mixing the whimsical with the bold: pair a delicate floral with sweet candy hues or strong, grounding tones like forest green to create a space that feels fresh, enchanting, and oh-so-you.'
'Why not add a touch of sweetness to your home with a pleated lampshade? It's vintage vibes, reimagined for today.' The key is balancing these pretty elements by layering softly ruffled covers with crisp sheets or pairing scalloped shams with contemporary stripes or adding a colorful throw blanket to keep the look sophisticated rather than overly fussy.

3. Return of Checkerboard
The checkerboard print has been popular for a while, but it's made its way into the bedroom in 2025. While traditionally associated with bold black-and-white contrasts, this year's take on the trend is softer and incredibly versatile to feel bedroom-ready.
'The checkerboard design continues to be popular because it has an immediate sense of playfulness,' says Claire Greenfield, lead designer at Harlequin. 'It can cast happy, energizing contrasts to a room, draw the eye towards points of visual focus, and can be balanced across a whole host of colors and aesthetic preferences. This versatility and balance of both structure and whimsy means that the checkerboard design isn't going away any time soon.'
Whether woven into linens, throw pillows, or used boldly to create a nook bed as seen above using the Harlequin x Henry Holland's Blenets Check Mini, checkerboard offers a fresh, graphic element that feels both timeless and modern. 'Its soft repetition of squares and grounding earthy hues in chocolate lend this weave a wonderful sense of richness, tactility, and depth in texture, creating this cocooning effect all the while retaining a visually striking design, perfect for a statement bed,' adds Claire.

For a more country take on the trend, try a soft gingham like this set of ethically woven European flax linens. It's pre-washed for softness and will only get softer over time with each wash.

4. Grandma's Florals
Florals are a perennial favorite in bedding, but now they're taking on a nostalgic, heirloom-inspired feel. 'Grandma's florals' is all about embracing vintage-style prints—think delicate florals and faded chintz prints that evoke the charm of an old English cottage (or your grandma's house).
'For those who are entranced by eccentricity, decadence, and comfort in equal measure,' says designer Giles Deacon. 'From apartments and pieds-a-terre to stately homes or cottages, this is for those who wish to live amongst enduring and timeless beauty.'
Unlike the bold, oversized florals that have dominated in recent years, these patterns feel softer and more timeworn, often appearing in muted pastels, dusty pinks, warm ochres, and faded greens.
The real key, however, is layering. Mixing different floral prints with solid-colored bedding in complementary hues creates a beautifully mismatched look. Pairing floral duvet covers with a scalloped trim or incorporating a ruffled pillowcase can help modernize the look. Mixing in gingham or striped accents can also break up the pattern and add depth.

Embracing a pared-back aesthetic inspired by the viral 'clean girl' lifestyle, this look is all about simplicity, quality, and understated luxury. Think crisp white sheets, ultra-soft natural fabrics, and a serene, uncluttered color palette designed to promote rest and relaxation.
Speaking to the team at Cozy Earth, they suggested using an 'all white palette to achieve the clean girl aesthetic with minimal pillows.' To style the bed for ultimate comfort, they also suggest layering 'lots of pillows in various sizes (euro, king, and throw) and neutrals with a pop of color from throw pillows and adding a quilt on top of the duvet cover for texture.'
